Better for You and Your Teeth

Current scientific studies continue to find correlations between your mouth and your overall health. It’s more important than ever before to take care of your teeth and rid your gums of disease.

Dr. Niraj Patel’s certified LANAP® protocol uses a tiny fiber about the width of three human hairs that targets and destroys bacteria hiding within your gum pockets without damaging your healthy tissue.

This periodontal therapy is gentle. Patients never see a scalpel, just immediate results with less bleeding during brushing and a reduction in bad breath.

We also have high-tech ultrasonic scalers to remove any disease-causing tartar quickly.

Laser gum therapy can safely reconnect your gum tissue to the tooth’s root after deep cleaning. Give your gums a little time to heal, but LANAP® leaves you free to drive home, return to work, or finish your day.

Worry Less With LANAP®

A dental laser in Cary, like LANAP®, has people talking. It’s highly advanced, non-invasive, and unique to our office because of Dr. Niraj Patel’s special certification. He’s detail-oriented and determined to help you improve your oral and overall health.

Dr. Patel specifically incorporated LANAP® into our office technology because it provides an extra level of the cornerstone of what we offer at Cary Family Dental, and that’s comfort.

How is it all possible? LANAP® treatment promotes more expedited healing and less discomfort, with little to no:

  • Gum recession
  • Inflammation
  • Bleeding

LANAP® is also safe for patients with health concerns, such as diabetes, HIV, and hemophilia, or those taking medications such as Plavix or aspirin.

How long do lasered gums take to heal?

Lasered gums typically heal faster than with traditional gum surgery. Most patients experience significant healing within 1 to 2 weeks, with full recovery occurring over a few weeks, depending on the severity of the treatment. Because laser therapy is minimally invasive and promotes tissue regeneration, discomfort and swelling are minimal. Good oral hygiene and following your post-care instructions can further speed up the healing process.

How painful is gum lasering?

Gum lasering is generally not very painful due to its minimally invasive nature. During the procedure, local anesthesia is used to numb the area, ensuring you remain comfortable. Most patients report little to no pain, both during and after treatment, as the laser targets diseased tissue precisely without cutting or stitches. Mild soreness or sensitivity may occur afterward but is typically manageable with over-the-counter pain relief and proper aftercare.

What should I avoid after laser gum treatment?

After laser gum treatment, avoid eating hard, crunchy, or spicy foods for a few days to prevent irritation. Stick to soft foods and avoid extremely hot or cold items. Do not smoke or use tobacco products, as they can hinder healing. Refrain from vigorous brushing in the treated area; use a soft-bristled toothbrush as directed. Avoid intense physical activity for 24-48 hours to reduce swelling and promote faster recovery. Should you have any additional questions or concerns post-treatment, please contact our office.
