CEREC® & Same-Day Crowns
Dental crowns are used to cap damaged or decayed teeth so you can enjoy full function of them and an attractive, restored appearance. With CEREC®, we can provide quality, durable dental crowns in a single visit. Traditionally this procedure would take multiple appointments and require us to work with an outside dental lab, but our state-of-the-art CEREC machine allows us to design, create, and place a restoration in under two hours.
Benefits of Same-Day Crowns
The biggest benefit of CEREC same-day crowns is that it saves you time and keeps you from having to come back for multiple visits. All you have to do is come in for one appointment and you’ll be good to go!
In addition to being more convenient, the CEREC crown procedure is more comfortable for you as well. Instead of taking uncomfortable impressions of your teeth using that putty-like substance, we can take easy digital images. We also don’t need to place a temporary crown, which can sometimes be uncomfortable, because we’ll have your actual final crown ready to go that same visit.
CEREC One-Visit Crowns Procedure
The CEREC machine uses CAD/CAM technology, which stands for Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing. This allows us to take digital images of your teeth, rather than messy impressions. These images are used to create a precise 3D model of your teeth.
The CEREC machine then designs the crown from a ceramic block we have chosen to match the shade of your teeth. This process of actually milling the crown only takes a few minutes! Finally, we take this crown and bond it to your teeth so you can walk out with your finished restoration.
What does CEREC® stand for?
CEREC is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. Essentially, it’s a system that lets us design and make natural-looking restorations while you are still in the dental chair.
How do you make the restoration match my teeth?
For starters, the white ceramic material we use to create same-day crowns resembles the look of natural teeth. There is no noticeable metal! We also use the digital imaging to perfectly match the color of your other teeth.
How long does it normally take to get a dental crown without CEREC®?
It generally takes two separate appointments to get a standard dental crown. The first visit involves preparing your teeth, taking an impression, and placing a temporary crown. Afterwards, you would need to wait for an off-site lab to create and send your dental crown, which takes around two weeks. Then, you would come back for your second visit to get the actual dental crown placed. With CEREC, we can take shorten all of that to just one convenient visit!
How do I take care of a CEREC® crown?
Same as how you take care of your other teeth! You can brush and floss it normally and continue to come in for routine dental visits regularly. When you take proper care of your dental crown, it can last you for many years!Make Appointment
